The water infrastructure across the entire country is in crisis. The EPA in a 2007 report found that there was a need for a $385 Billion investment in water systems eligible for EPA or state grants in the next 20 years. Small private water systems are not eligible for these grants. Many private systems are very small, serving only one development or mobile home park. They were built with funds available at the beginning of the development and are now in serious need of funds for repair and maintenance. Many of these systems are in a state of moratorium imposed by local water and health agencies and have no way of adding connections to increase revenues for making the repairs or servicing the debt they would need to incur to remediate the system to take it out of moratorium.
Our Solution
Western Water Conservation’s (WWC) goal is to help rescue and restore small private systems in disadvantaged areas by using grant funds available in the the non-profit sector to accomplish this. Additionally, WWC will assume responsibility for the operation of the water system, providing experience and accountability for the operation of a safe and sustainable water system.
